Composed of pianist Jon Schmidt and cellist Steven Sharp Nelson, their songs mix classic pieces with contemporary hits to create chart-topping hits that have reached worldwide acclaim.
The men describe their mission as spiritual in nature and strive to spread their beliefs by entertaining and inspiring audiences with performances.
About The Piano Guys
Four dorky dads known as The Piano Guys have taken the world by storm! Earning millions of fans worldwide, their musical videos include classic tunes combined with popular tunes mash-ups as well as videos showing them performing exotic locations such as speeding trains, the Great Wall of China and even inside an ice castle!
Last night The Piano Guys took to the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham before an enthusiastic sold out audience, playing their amazing YouTube videos to showcase their musical and entertaining talent. Following that Jon Schmidt and Steven Sharp Nelson performed their debut set of mashups featuring bagpipes.
Audience members of all ages were thoroughly entertained by this performance from beginning to end, singing along, laughing out loud, dancing to the music that they produced and applauding when their show concluded with a standing ovation! What started in Utah piano store with an aim of providing business for one of their producers Paul Anderson has now become an international phenomenon!
The Story
Before The Piano Guys were an international sensation, Jon Schmidt and Steven Sharp Nelson were performing private gigs around Southern Utah until store owner Paul Anderson approached Schmidt with the idea of creating videos together to post on YouTube. Along with music producer Al Van Der Beek and videographer Tel Stewart they quickly began posting weekly videos, garnering fans all across social media platforms such as YouTube.
The Piano Guys have since found success by taking their show outside of concert halls and into nature and other exciting settings like China’s Great Wall of China for stunning video footage that has amassed them an international fan base and yielded both classical and new age hits.
While their tricks and stunts may become familiar over time, their ability to captivate audiences remains intact. The Piano Guys present an experience that balances talent with spectacle; music as art and pure entertainment in one concert experience.

The Performance

Their concert was an unforgettable experience. They performed everything from their hit YouTube videos to classic pieces like Beethoven’s Fur Elise and Mozart’s Twinkle Sonata. Additionally, all four members joined Schmidt and Nelson right before intermission in creating an entertaining mashup between Dave Matthews Band‘s Ants Marching song and classical Beethoven piece called Ants Marching by Beethoven – making for an incredible journey through music!
The piano guys truly made this night unforgettable with their moving rendition of Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years, leaving everyone in attendance breathless with its beauty. Their unique blend of classical music with pop and modern hits draws millions worldwide to them and their creative music videos.
