Gov’t Mule Welcomes Doug Woolverton & Jimmy Vivino In Los Angeles

Gov’t Mule shows in Los Angeles are guest filled affairs and last night’s concert at The Wiltern wasn’t any exception. The band brought out trumpeter Doug Woolverton along with guitarist Jimmy Vivino at sections of Tuesday night’s show.

The all-original path was gone by the quartet for their very first set at The Wiltern. Guitarist Warren Haynes & Co. started the day with fan-favorite “Bad Little Doggie. ” More staples laid such as “Broke Down On The Brazos,” “Rocking Horse” along with “Time To Confess. ” Gov’t Mule played songs in Revolution Come … Revolution Go, their latest record, at L.A. and every appeared within the very first set.

Mule came out swinging for another set that started with a streak of “Slackjaw Jezebel,” “Mr. High & Mighty” along with “Steppin’ Lightly. ” Haynes then led the group by means of a cover of Memphis Slim’s “Mother Earth. ” Next, the jam stalwarts paid tribute to Los Angeles resident Tom Petty by matching “Breakdown” within their Beautifully Broken. ” From there, the four-piece ring lit to The J.B.’s “Doing It To Death. ” Ace trumpeter Doug Woolverton emerged to bring a solo.

Night ’s set ended with yet another cover, as Gov’t Mule completed the Al Green classic “I’m A Ram. ” When the band emerged to the encore they had been joined by regular collaborator Jimmy Vivino. The chief of the Conan home band led to Mule’s rendition of “I Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody’s Home. ” Warren Haynes withdrew some legends from Billy Preston’s “Will It Go Round In Circles” inside the Ann Peebles cover.
