The String Cheese Incident Welcomes Jennifer Hartswick At Planet Bluegrass

The String Cheese Incident helped celebrate the 25th anniversary of Boulder’s Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery at Planet Bluegrass in Lyons, Colorado on Saturday. SCI was joined by special guest Jennifer Hartswick as a portion of their headlining performance at Mountain Sun 25th Anniversary — Colorado Kind Festival.

On Fridaythe members of The String Cheese Incident chose the stage minus Michael Kang since the “Mountain Sun All-Stars. ” Hartswick, Lenny Kravitz, Lyle Divinsky along with Liza Oxnard helped the Kang-less Cheese to a series of covers including The Rolling Stones’ “Brown Sugar,” Aretha Franklin’s “Chain Of Fools” along with “Let Love Rule” by Lenny Kravitz.

Kang was again back in the fold to get SCI’s headlining sets on Saturday at Planet Bluegrass. The band’s first set started with a streak of “Can’t Wait Another Day,” “Missing Me” along with “Rivertrance. ” The String Cheese Incident subsequently performed “Purple Strains” by Onus B. Johnson. Next up was “Get Tight” before the sextet shut out the framework by pairing classics up “Black & White” along with “‘Round The Wheel. ”

Cheese started their final set of the afternoon together using the title track from last year’s Believe and drummer Michael Travis’ recently debuted Illegal. ” SCI lasted by functioning “Stir It Up” into a raucous “I Know You Rider. ” The group went on to pull out Hartswick after “Panama Red” to its recurrence of “Grazing In The Grass. ” Jennifer added trumpet to The String Cheese Incident’s first cover of this Hugh Masekela instrumental since October 15, 2004. Hartswick stuck around to contribute to “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)” and “Jellyfish” before SCI reasoned the set alone using “Rollover. ”

When The String Cheese Incident returned to the encore, the group was joined once again by Jennifer Hartswick. Jennifer led the team around The Jacksons’ “Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)” on Saturday as she’d done multiple times before. Cheese played “Shake Your Body” with Hartswick back on July 3, 2015 in the High Sierra Music Festival.
