Suwannee Hulaween Contributes to The Spirit Of The Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida October 26 – 28 featuring three nights of The String Cheese Incident and performances from Jamiroquai, The Revivalists, Vulfpeck, STS9, Lettuce, Trampled By Turtles and dozens more. Every year SCI presents a special themed set and while details of the 2018 themed series are coming, the band today revealed the costume motif is “Creatures Of The Galaxy. ” This week Throwback Thursday looks at Cheese’s 2015 excellent operation, “Ghoul Train. ”
The Suwannee Hulaween was held in 2013. SCI’s theme this season was “Voodoo. ” In 2014 the band proceeded The Afterlife” as the subject and followed closely 2015’s “Ghoul Train” place having a “Stringier Things” place in 2016. Last year motif was “Night Of The Loving Dead. ”
Cheese’s “Ghoul Train” set had been hosted by GZA and special guests that the Antibalas Horns along with vocalists Sheryl Renee along with Leonard Julien. The set started with a concentration on dance and soul music beginning with The Commodores’ “Brick House. ” Roller skaters paraded on stage through Cheryl Lynn’s “Got To Be Real,” that lent approach to covers Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September,” “Pick Up The Pieces” by Average White Band & “I’s Your Boogie Man” by KC & The Sunshine Band.
Go-go Girls and bubbles filled the stage as SCI exhibited covers of Rose Royce’s “Car Wash” by Rose Royce and Labelle’s “Lady Marmalade. ” The String Cheese Incident concluded the Ghoul Train set classics “Cold Sweat,” “I Want To Take You Higher” along with “Dance To The Music. ” Ghoul Train’s finale featured plenty of theatrics such as pyro, confetti cannons and also a puppet train.
