Stephen Malkmus Announces New Album ‘Groove Denied’ & Shares Single

Stephen Malkmus will Launch Groove Denied on March 15 Through Matador Records. The 10-track campaign is Malkmus’ first solo record since 2001 and marks his own foray into the world of music. Malkmus shared with the movie to get the LP’s sole “Viktor Borgia. ”

The majority of the material was written while Malkmus was living in Berlin at the early 2000s and inspired by the music of the cityclub scene. There was A nine-date solo tour declared in support of the album that kicks off May 1 at The Great Hall in Toronto. Even the East Coast leg of the tour features demonstrates in Somerville, Massachusetts; Ardmore, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.. The tour then heads west to Austin, Portland, Seattle and San Francisco before wrapping on May 15 at the Lodge Room at Los Angeles.

“It’therefore funny to mess with things you’re not supposed to mess with,” Malkmus stated. “Yes, I was thinking things like Pete Shelley’s ‘Homosapien,’ the Human League, along with DIY synth music circa 1982 and about how from the New Wave eighties, these suburban 18-and-over dancing clubs were all the freaks would fulfill — a refuge. ”
