The Disco Biscuits closed out a three-night Colorado run last night at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Prefaced by two solid nights at the Ogden Theater in Denver, night three featured the debut of an instrumental cover of Blondie’s “Rapture” and an encore bust out of “The City.”
The quartet kicked off set one with a “Hope” opener which fans hadn’t heard live since the New Year’s run at The Fillmore in 2018. Set one picked up momentum with “Rockafella,” a treat for the crowd as this song has only been played live less than 60 times since its 2007 inception. From there the jamtronica vets sandwiched an unfinished “Rock Candy” between a groovy, seamlessly transitioned “Digital Buddha.” The space-rock vibe continued into the set closer with a jammed out “Haleakala Crater.”
Set two opened with fan-favorite “Jigsaw Earth,” which segued into the inverted middle section of “Above The Waves” ahead of a transition into the debut of the instrumental cover of Blondie’s “Rapture.” The classic cover kept the seamless set going right back into the inverted “Above The Waves,” which led back into “Jigsaw Earth.” The foursome continued the non-stop flow of the set leading “Jigsaw Earth” into a “Helicopters,” “Confrontation,” “Helicopters” jam sandwich. Wrapping the smooth, unfaltering set was an encore bust out of “The City,” which had not been played since November 16, 2017 at the Fox Theater in Boulder, Colorado.
