Happy Birthday Dave Schools: Widespread Panic Live At Red Rocks 2011

Widespread Panic bassist Dave Schools celebrates his birthday now. According to December 11, 1964, Schools’ parents supplied the base on which Dave could rise as a musician, even beginning with drums and piano. Schools picked up the bass at 13 and honed his craft by playing along with the greats: The Who, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and more.

Schools dabbled in a couple bands in high school but it had been during his tenure at the University of Georgia where he first met guitarists John Bell along with Michael Houser and set what would become his own full-time gig, Widespread Panic, at 1986. Drummer Todd Nance along with percussionist Domingo “Sunny” Ortiz joined shortly after and keyboardist JoJo Hermann rounded out the classic Widespread Panic lineup at 1992.

A couple of years later on May 31, 1996, Panic will create their debut debut at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and have since gathered 62 consecutive sellouts at the iconic Colorado venue, a listing that won’t readily, if ever, be busted. On June 25, 2011 Schools and WSP chose the hallowed Red Rocks stage to perform to their 40th consecutive sellout. While fans of the group like to mention “Never Miss A Sunday Show,” at Red Rocks it’therefore wise not to miss any however Saturdays are often always heaters.

June 25, 2011 was no different.
