Canada’s legalization of marijuana earlier this season was great news in the fight for new legislation of cannabis worldwide. To jungle and drum and bass label M Ocean, that appears to be a wonderful time to launch a remix EP of Dubzee’s minute classic, “Everybody Smoke” featuring Demolition Man along with Trinity Chris.
The first of “Everybody Smoke” is exceptionally remixable because combines reggae/ragga rhythms with a steppy kick/snare conquer. With this EP there are just four remixes: a jungle remix and a dancehall version by Danny Styles, a halftime remix from Trimer and another DnB/ jungle hybrid vehicle by D-Region & Code.
Even the D-Region & Code mix appeared especially premierable given the celebration this EP is marking due to D-Region’therefore being Canadian. This remix is probably the nearest to the first concerning structure but with neurofunk flare or even just a little techstep. Some techy synths and term transitions are added into a beat that’s even more steppy and more snaresy compared to the first while the lyrics have been cut up and turned into samples for the breaks. Even the duo doesn’t do anything to remove from Demolition Man along with Trinity Chris’s vocals, however, leaving the poetry in tact while the defeat and synths end about them. It’s an excellent combination bit, earning the best of jungle and many sub genres of DnB but not making it overwhelming.
Regardless of which remix you select, this commemorative EP is a enjoyable and danceable method to celebrate the continuing advancement of the bud cause. It’s only a matter of whether you’re feeling jungle, sick halftime, dancehall or even D&B vibes. Everyone can smoke to “Everybody Smoke. ”
