My Morning Jacket Celebrates ‘The Tennessee Fire’ At The Capitol Theatre

On Friday night, My Morning Jacket Conducted their first show at The Capitol Theatre since 2012. The band treated the Port Chester, New York viewers to a performance of their debut record, The Tennessee Fire, in its entirety.

MMJ recently published a 20th anniversary edition of The Tennessee Fire, which originally came out in May 1999. Frontman Jim James ked the team through the album’s opening track “Heartbreakin Man” to start the night in The Cap. The group then rolled through each of the album ’s other songs (save for the worthy closer “Alabama Come Clean”), offering up classics like “The Bear,” “If All Else Fails,” “I Will Be There When You Die,” “The Dark” and ldquo;Butch Cassidy. ”

After two nights in Red Rocks that saw just flashes of covers, My Morning Jacket’s encore in The Cap featured Elton John’s “Rocket Man” and Erykah Badu’s “Tyrone. ” The encore also saw a bust out of the rarity “Weeks Go by Like Days” and a final rendition of all “Tonite I Want to Celebrate With You. ”
