The String Cheese Incident Opens Dillon Run In Colorado

Colorado’s own The String Cheese Incident began a home state run last night with their first of two concerts at Dillon Amphitheatre. SCI follows tonight’s Dillon finale by heading to Morrison this weekend for three shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre which will each be featured in nugs.tv livestreams.

Tuesday’s concert marked the sextet’s first show of their own and only performance besides their Peach Music Festival appearance on the Fourth Of July since a 2019 Thanksgiving Weekend Run at The Mission Ballroom. However, fans would have to wait a little longer than expected as thunderstorms led to a delayed start as per Live For Live Music. SCI opened the two-night stand in Dillon with the fitting “Can’t Wait Another Day.” The band then paired “Give Me The Love” and “Outside & Inside.”

Cheese continued with just their fifth “Look At Where We Are” of the past five years before covering Bob Marley’s “Could You Be Loved.” Oldies “Dirk” and “Rivertrance” ended last night’s first set. The band then returned to the stage with “Sometimes A River,” the Kyle Hollingsworth-penned “MLT” and “Bhangra Saanji,” a song SCI debuted in 2019. A pair of covers followed as Peter Rowan’s “Midnight Moonlight” led into “Purple Strains (Earl’s Song)” by Onus B. Johnson. Once again, The String Cheese Incident went the classic route to end the set with a run of “Water” and “Howard.” The six-piece played Talking Heads’ “(Nothing But) Flowers” for the evening’s encore.

The String Cheese Incident returns to Red Rocks this Friday, July 16 – Sunday, July 18. Livestreams for all three shows are available for purchase via nugs.tv with a discounted three-day pass offered. The broadcasts come with 48 hours of on-demand replay.
