Lucy Dacus has been preview her upcoming Home Video record by sharing the single “VBS” and an accompanying movie. Dacus, that added that a handful of tour dates for her tour with all the LP, will release Home Video through Matador Records around June 25.
Dacus has become slated to return to the road next month after she opens for Shakey Graves at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on June 23. Lucy will subsequently encourage Bright Eyes in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on July 29; Worcester, Massachusetts on July 30 and New York City on July 31. Moreover, the singer-songwriter added headlining shows in Denver on October 6, Washington D.C. on October 23 and Brooklyn into October 26 into the already extensive tour.
“VBS” includes Lucy and guitarist Jacob Blizard and Jake Finch on drums and manhood. Dacus tapped longtime collaborator Marin Leong to direct the visual for the tune. The singer-songwriter shared the following regarding the latest single in the third studio album:
VBS means vacation bible school, and I went to plenty of them. It’s where Christian parents send their children over the winter, spring, or summer breaks from school to get closer to God, maybe learn some outdoor skills, and attract house futile crafts and totems such as fruit of the soul sand art and yarn rings. I wrote the tune in the van on the way to Nashville to record Home Video after seeing one of those readerboards out a church advertisements a healthy church camp for children. I thought in my very first boyfriend, that I met at VBS, the resident bad boy that adored Slayer and marijuana over Jesus. I took it on myself to save him, and make him quit doing medications (with the exclusion for snorting nutmeg). God, I was so helpless.
